# Network Information Viewer See your connection type, estimated speed, latency and data-saver status — and whether you're online — updating live. Everything is read locally in your browser. ### How it works The **Network Information API** (`navigator.connection`) exposes a coarse estimate of your connection: an *effective type* (slow-2g to 4g) inferred from recent traffic, an estimated *downlink* in Mbps, round-trip *latency*, and whether *data saver* is on. Online/offline status comes from `navigator.onLine`.
