# Online Notepad A clean, distraction-free notepad that lives in your browser. It autosaves as you type, works offline, and never sends a word to a server — download as a text file whenever you like. ## A notepad that stays on your device This is a plain, distraction-free place to write — a quick note, a draft, a snippet of code, a list you'll paste elsewhere. Everything you type is **saved automatically** in your browser as you go, so if you close the tab and come back, your text is still here. The word, character and line counts update live at the bottom. ### Where your notes live Your text is stored in this browser's **local storage** — on your own device, in this browser, for this site. It is never sent to a server, synced to an account, or seen by anyone else, which is exactly why there's no sign-in. Two consequences worth knowing: your note won't appear in a *different* browser or on another device (there's no cloud to sync through), and clearing your browser's site data will erase it. For anything you want to keep for good, use **Download .txt** to save a real file. ### Comfort options **Mono** switches to a monospaced font (handy for code or aligned text); **Bigger text** increases the size for easier reading. The Word and RTF files are generated on your device too — the note is built into a real document in the browser, with nothing sent anywhere. ### Privacy Nothing you write leaves this device.
