Where did Lorem Ipsum come from?

Lorem Ipsum is derived from De Finibus Bonorum et Malorum ("On the Ends of Good and Evil") by Cicero, written in 45 BC. The scrambled version used in typesetting has been the industry standard since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book.

Why designers use it

The Purpose of Placeholder Text

Placeholder text lets designers and developers focus on visual structure without the distraction of meaningful content. Real text draws the eye to its meaning; Lorem Ipsum keeps attention on layout, typography, spacing, and contrast. It has been the standard filler text in publishing and web design for over five centuries.

Why Five Flavours?

Classic Latin can feel out of place in technical or science-themed mockups. The four additional flavours — Tech, Space, Nature, and Neuro — use real domain vocabulary to produce contextually appropriate placeholder text. A neuro research mockup looks more realistic with neuroscience terminology than with Latin. Each flavour uses a 60–80 word bank of genuine vocabulary from its domain.
