Digital Media Ethics

India

Our commitment to transparency, accountability, and the Digital Media Ethics Code under the Information Technology Rules, 2021.

§ 01

Introduction & Applicability

The Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021, govern publishers of digital news and online curated content (OTT platforms) in India. OCXLY, as a multidimensional innovation hub, adheres to these rules regarding any digital content produced or curated through its various divisions.

§ 02

The Code of Ethics

We strictly adhere to the Code of Ethics specified in the Appendix of the IT Rules 2021. Our content curation process ensures:

  • Age Classification: Content is classified based on nature and target audience (U, U/A 7+, U/A 13+, U/A 16+, and A).
  • Content Sensitivity: We respect the sovereignty and integrity of India, security of the State, and maintain public order.
  • Accuracy & Fact-Checking: Publishers within our network strive for accuracy in news-related content and current affairs.
§ 03

Grievance Redressal Framework

The IT Rules 2021 establish a three-tier grievance redressal mechanism for digital media:

Level I: Self-Regulating (Publisher)

The first level of grievance redressal is at the publisher's level. Any person having a grievance regarding content published by OCXLY may file a complaint with our Grievance Officer.

Level II: Self-Regulating (Body)

In the event that the complainant is not satisfied with the Level I response, the complaint may be escalated to the self-regulating body of publishers of which OCXLY is a member.

Level III: Oversight Mechanism

The final tier involves the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB), which maintains an oversight mechanism through an Inter-Departmental Committee.

§ 04

Information Disclosure

As per Rule 18, we disclose that OCXLY maintains standard records of all grievances received and the actions taken. We are committed to providing the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting with required information as prescribed under the Rules.
